为什么用finishing而不用to finsh?不能理解为 he had 作为定语从句修饰the difficulty，to finsh是为了完成吗？

这样一来，定语从句显然就是这个句型：
have difficulty (in) doing sth

怎么能这样分开呢，这其实有两个考点：

你是否知道关系代词在这里作have 的宾语， 即have difficulty 这种动宾关系

have difficulty in doing sth 这个句型你知道不知道
