下面两个句子：
1、To look at him you could hardly help laughing.
2、Armed with a torch, he rushed out.
为什么不可以分别用“looking”和“arming”？？这三种情况有什么根本上的区别吗？请清晰一点，万分感谢。

在非谓语形式中，to do表示目的，为了……；当这个动词和主句的主语是主动关系时，就用ing形式；当这个动词和主句的主语是被动关系时，就用ed形式
现在分析一下非谓语形式中的动词和主句的主语之间的关系就知道该用ing还是ed形式了，不知理解了没有？

可以用looking，只是意思不一样。如果用looking，通常表示正在看，而用to look，表示目的；关于aiming，这需要看主语与分句中动词的关系，第二个句子中，arm和he，我们需要说he is armed...，所以省略主语后，要用armed开头。
