Why is that? A gentleman uses talent to do good, while a villain uses talent to do bad. The good person with talent acts all good deeds, while the bad person with talent commits all bad deeds. The foolish persons try to do bad without comprehensive intelligence or superior strength, like a newborn dog tries to beat humans and is controlled by the latter. The sufficient intelligence of a villain, however, can fulfill his evil, and his ample courage can help execute his violence. They are like tigers with wings. Aren't they severely harmful? It is said that moral persons are dignified by others while talented persons are cherished by others. Cherishing makes it easy to be close to one person, and dignifying makes it easy to go distant. As a result, recruiters tend to be taken in by a person's talents and neglect his moral standards. Down the ages, there has been many subversions caused by usurpers and spendthrifts, both of whom own surplus talents but deficient morals, far more than the one example of Zhi Bo. Therefore, if those who manage a nation or a family can differentiate talent with moral and know the priority too when examining a person, there would be no reason for them to worry about being tripped by others.
