为什么下面这句话中用了“how she wanted ...”而不是“how did she want...”？这不违反语法规则吗？

1.首先ask Miz Chishold （that） ....后面的那个句子 是宾语从句，而连接词that在这里省略了.举个例子 think/ask/know/wonder 这类词后面可以加一个句子，而这个句子人们把它叫做宾语从句，因为这个句子在整个主句中就像宾语一样存在着。但是这类词加宾语从句时 必须要加一个连接词 连接词有that,when,how,why.其中当连接词为that时 that 可以省略，所以在上文中 我们没见到连接词that.

但是当连接词为其它的时，连接词不可以省略，因为这里连接词有实际的意思，比较重要，不可省略，省略的话会影响句子翻译。比如：His brother asked when he will go to library.这里连接词when 就不可以省略。

2.宾语从句要用陈述语序

以上三个句子中，第一个句子显然是一个疑问。疑问句其实是从陈述句变来的，比如：从he went to library yesterday.变成why did he go to library yesterday.这里助动词did是人为添加上去的，因此只有疑问句中才会出现助动词did/do/does.

又因为宾语从句的语序为陈述语序 所以不会出现did.

陈述语序的一般结构为：主语+谓语（助动词/情态动词/be动词被算在了谓语中）+其它 所以上图中，第三个句子是错误的，第二个句子是对的。
