Friend is a common word, but it contains profound meaning. Each one of us in this world needs friends. Because without friends we feel lonely and thus our life becomes bitter.
But what is the true meaning of a friend? From my point of view, a true friend is the one who can share your happiness and pain. Whenever you need someone to talk, he or she can always be by your side. When you get lost, a true friend can always lead you back home and encourage you.
What's the principle of making friends? First, only make friends with those who tell truth. Because a liar is a bad company and may get you lost yourself. Second, make friends with those who will not give up you even you make some mistakes. Tolerance is of great importance. Last but not least, try to make bosom friends as early as possible. Because the longer you spend time together, the better you will know each other.

Everyone needs friends. A friend can give us help and share our difficulties and happiness. But how can we make friends?
First, to make friends, you must be friendly to others. Smile at others and you are sure to get a smile in return. You should try to make a stranger feel at home wherever he happens to be. Think more of others than of yourself and never judge a person by his appearance and clothes.

Second, friends should negotiate instead of quarrel.
When you don’t agree someone, please discuss with him.

Finally, never believe in those who leave you when you are in trouble. And never leave your friend when he is in trouble. Remember, a friend in need is a friend indeed.
