1.间接疑问句（Indirect Questions ）属于
间接引语的范畴，是指一个
陈述句中含有一个
从句，这个从句的内容是另一个人提出的问题。
2.用途。间接疑问句提问可以表示礼貌，并且显得更加正式。因为英语中没有“您”和“你”的区分，所以就要靠间接疑问句来show politeness.
3.间接疑问句就是直接疑问句（直接提出问题）的变形。一般公式是介绍性短语 +
一般疑问句或介绍性短语 +
特殊疑问句。但一般疑问句和特殊疑问句语序要发生调整。调整公式举例如下：
（1）介绍性短语 + Question Word / If / Whether +陈述句：
eg.
Where is Jack?
I was wondering if you know where Jack is.
How much does it cost?
I’d like to know how much it costs.
What have you done this week?
Can you tell me what you’ve done this week?
（2）常见的介绍性短语有：
Do you know…I wonder/was wondering…Can you tell me…I’m not sure…I don’t know…I’d like to know…
用法：
介绍性短语+问题
eg.
Do you know … ?
Can you tell me … ?
Do you happen to know …?
4.变形的要点
（1）不管是“一般疑问句”还是“特殊疑问句”，他们都是疑问句。那么对疑问句做间接引语变化，引导词使用asked，间接引语语序为陈述句。时态仍是在原句的时态上累加一个
过去时。（之所以是累加过去时，是因为前面引导的动词都是said, told, asked这类。不用这类词的也有，比如want to know、wonder等。I wonder if he has phoned the doctor.）比如：
‘Are you tired?’she asked.
这个一般疑问句变为间接引语就是：
She asked if(or whether) you were tied.
‘When will Jack arrive?’Tom asked.
这个特殊疑问句变为间接引语就是：
Tom asked when Jack would arrive.
（3） 一般疑问句由直接引语变为间接引语使用whether或是if。而特殊疑问句由直接引语变为间接引语就使用该疑问词，比如what、when、where 等等。
eg.
‘Did he go home?’She asked.
She asked if he had gone home.
‘where are you going?’He asked.
He asked where we were going.
5． 一些特殊的情况。
（1） 当一般疑问句包含了一个选择，经常选用whether，而不是if。比如：
‘Do you like her or love her?’my father asked me.
My father asked me whether I liked her or loved her.
（2） 在针对主语提问的间接疑问句中，时态照常有变化，但语序保持不变。其实语序并不是保持不变，而是因为是对主语提问，而疑问词放在前面，那么后面的语序仍是保持一种
主谓宾的语序。
‘Who is in charge here?’“这儿谁负责？”
He wanted to know who was in charge there.他想知道那儿谁负责。
‘Whose novel will win the prize？’“谁的小说将获奖？”
He asked whose novel would win the prize.他问谁的小说将获奖。
