中学时，我曾经参加语文小组，研究过关于中国古典文化的课题。为了做好这个研究，我去学校的图书馆看了《牡丹亭》、《桃花扇》、《西厢记》等书籍。通过研究，我发现这些书有一些共同的特点，虽然它们在不同的朝代被写，但它们都是利用戏曲形式来表现对人性自由和正义的追求。就像莎士比亚通过写《哈姆雷特》表现对人性善良的呼唤和对罪恶行为的批判，在中国文化中，戏曲就是人们表现他们心中美好追求，或者是对现实的不满的一种特殊方式。
我在阅读那些书籍的过程中，感受到了中华词汇的深奥内涵，同样一个词汇，在不同的情境下，作者可以向读者传达出不同的意思。虽然中国是个无宗教国家，但在书籍中却有着丰富的源于宗教的词汇。在坚持自己无宗教信仰下，为了更好地体现故事的内容，作者通常利用宗教中的词汇，这体现了中华文化的吸收性、包容性和灵活性，而这些正是中华文化受人喜爱的原因之一。
When I was in middle school, I have joined the Chinese club and studied the subject of Chinese classical civilization. In order to doing a good research on the topic, I’ve read ‘Peony Pavilion’, ‘Peach Blossom Fan’ and ‘Romance of the Western Chamber’, etc. During reading, I found out that there are some common points in the books: although they were written in different dynasty and by different people, they all made use of traditional Chinese opera to yearn for the freedom and criticize the evil. Generally, opera is the specific way that people shows their pursuit of happy life or express the disappointment of reality.
When I was reading books, I realized and shocked by the profound Chinese character. For the same word, the writer can express different meaning under different situations. Even though that Chinese people believes no religion, you can still find many religious words in the article and books. Because it is good for reflecting the contents and significances of stories. And this also shows the absorbency, containment and flexibility of Chinese culture, it’s the reason why so many people love our country as well.
然而，在语文小组的研究过程中，最令我动容的还是故事中所传达的人类坚强不屈的斗争精神。举个例子，《桃花扇》是一本描述明末时期君和侯方域爱情故事的书，在书中，他们两个在一起受到各种各样的阻挠，但是他们却从来没有放弃，君用自己的生命表达她对爱情的忠贞，用自己的鲜血在扇子上画下美丽的桃花。在战争年代，作者用这个故事表达自己对国家的热爱，并且讽刺那些坏人们，鼓励大家勇敢地追求幸福。
Anyway, during the research, what moves me most is the tough and tensile spirit passed in the books. For example, as we know that ‘Peach Blossom Fan’ describes the love story between Jun and Fang yu Hou in late-Ming Dynasty. In the book, there were so many obstructions standing in their way, but instead of giving up, they chose overcome the difficulties in front of them. The story is a tragedy, in the end, Jun painted beautiful but dismal peach blossom with her blood on the fan and died to prove her loyalty of love. The author expressed his deep love of the country and encourage people to look for the pursuit of happiness and the same time satirized those bad fatuous people.
那时候，班主任认为我们的课题缺乏创意、没有深入的思考，这个事情令我们很沮丧，有的人认为其他小组做的非常好，我们应该放弃，还有人因为没有得到老师的肯定而不打算继续，但我觉得，我们应该学君这种坚持自己理想的精神。在我们的生命中，有许多像高山一样的困难，如果我们半路放弃，那么我们永远不可能看见山顶最美好的风光，也不可能感受到成功那一刻的喜悦。于是我们决定更改我们的内容和形式，增加里面我们自己对中国古典文化的思考，并且添加了许多书里面精彩的语句和图片，最老师认可，在学校展示了我们的研究成果，并且获得了其他老师的赞赏。
At that time, the homeroom teacher thought that our topic was lacking of originality and without deep thinking. It made us feel depressed. Most of people in the group wanted to give up. Some students thought that other groups did much better than us and others were unhappy without teacher’s praise. But in my opinion, we should lean the strong spirit of Jun. there will be much more difficulties which as tall as mountains in our future life, if we always give up in half way, then how can we see the most wonderful landscapes on the top of mountain? How can we know the happiness of success? I told them that and at last we all decided to exchange the content and modality of our article instead of abandoning. We added some writing of consideration of classical cultures and put some interesting pictures in the essay. Also, we enriched the sentences and improve the quality of the paper. Finally our hard work paid off, we got ratification from teachers and got opportunity to show the result of our research in front of school.
我认为，中华文化不仅是古人留给我们的礼物，更是一种中华民族难能可贵的精神。它流传在中国发展的每一个时代，它用独有的形式鼓舞我们，给我们精神上的支持。它就像是奥运会上传递的火炬，包含了无数人对信仰的追求和歌颂。
As I see, Chinese culture is not only the gift given by the ancients but also a estimable spirit of Chinese nation. It spreads each age in the development of country, it encourages all the Chinese people in a special way, it supports us mentally. The strength of culture is a kind of psychic forces. It’s intangible and need to represent in books, in song or in a dance and other mediums. Like Shang ren Kong showed his idea in ‘peach blossom fan’, Shakespeare expressed his opinion of value in operas. In other words, culture can’t separate with materials in life. After experiencing thousands of years, Chinese culture generally started to connect with people’s lives and final became the most important regional culture of china. At first, the regional culture was narrow, however, with migrating, the culture brought to every cornel in the world. Whenever you judge someone’s nationality, apart from observe the skin color and check the identity card, you can also notice the culture habits. For example, Chinese, wherever he or she has gone, they will watch the moon in mid-autumn festival, they will eat dumplings and set off firecrackers in the New year’s eve. We can accept all cultures from other nations, but can’t abandon our own one, since it has become a habit. The habit is in all 13 billion people’s hearts and because of it, we are connected together, even though we are in different places, we have same feelings. And also because of this, our nation became so powerful with a strong cohesion.

Goethe said ‘the decline of literature indicates the decline of a nation, the two keep in their downward tendency’. As culture can increase our willpower and cohesion, all the Chinese people are responsible to inherit Chinese culture. Traditions should be spread out by ourselves such as reading more classical books, trying to know more about ancient culture or wearing han Chinese clothing in festival, etc. people always thinks that one person’s behavior can’t change the situation and use it as a reason to refuse do it, but we forget that if everyone require themselves to do it, then we will organize a strong power, at least we can change something then. Therefore, transmitting Chinese culture should be started by everyone, started from every small things.

Of cause, under the fast developing century, we cant blindly carry everything on. We also need to put those bad and pedantic parts away and spread the outstanding parts and the same time absorb the good cultures from other countries. Zhou Enlai has said that ‘it’s a confident and proud expression to bravely absorb advantages from other countries, and a nation act like this must be tough and strong nation.’ Thus, we should learn modestly in order to develop our culture in a even better fashion.
