2. works → work
work意为“工作”时是不可数名词，无复数形式。

give up doing sth 放弃做某事

4. had → have
recently“最近/近来”，一般用于现在完成时

5. interesting → interest
动词lost后加名词interest

6. and → but
句意前后为转折

7. a → an
important第一个音素是元音，所以用an

8. beside → besides
beside意思是“除...之外”，besides意思是“另外/而且”

9. hardly → hard
hardly意思是“几乎不”，hard意思是“努力地”

10. hear → hearing
look forward to的to是介词，所以后面用动名词形式。
