reading: 人们普遍认为海洋的动物比如dophin什么的都很聪明，但是manatee是个例外，理由有三：
1. The brain is smooth surface所以不intelligent. 其他动物monkey, aps都是brain 有褶皱，还有脑子里有一个东西叫cartox（拼写不确定），越huge就越聪明，但是manatee的brain 和 bats一样，都是smooth surface.
2. small brain-body ratio所以不intelligent. 还是monkey举例子，说脑体-身体比例影响智力的问题.
3.不能像dolphin一样被trainning的完成很多tricks, manatee的体型又大又笨。
lecture部分：
1.manatee是sea mammal，跟猴子啥的不能一概而论，虽然是smooth surface, 但是具备mulit-layer, 一样是很聪明。还说了很多生物的脑都有WRIKLE所以这不能作为聪不聪明的根据，还有生活习惯，饮食习惯都决定了脑有没有沟。沟在FASI的陆地动物，如猴子中比较多，SMOOTH在海洋生物中比较多。而且manatee的脑子也有complex structure
2.manatee的brain-body ratio是适应环境的原因，他们生活在cool water，它们要调节BODY TEMPRETURE。并不是它们的脑子小，而是它们身体太大了
3.虽然manatee不能完成dophin那样的balance a ball, 但不是笨，是因为体型的原因决定的，它们也可以完成很多让人impressive的动作，甚至比dophin还棒。 它们可以训练float, locate还有response to a 口哨.

Teolihuacan文明衰落，突然消失原因
reading：1，外族侵略，一方面因为发现遗迹中房子burnt，另一方面，Teolihuacan衰落的时期正好是另一个T开头的group 开始发展的时期，所以Teolihuacan有可能是被征服；
2，因为饥荒famine。资料显示，在535C.E.，全球气候变化，这个地方有可能干旱数年导致饥荒而文明消失；
3，森林破坏deforestation，因为人口众多，需要从森林获得木材等，所以树砍得多了，就没有可以再砍的，只能迁移留下空城。
lecture:教授说三个理论都不对。
1，遗迹显示只有一些政治建筑被毁，居民建筑residential constructures完好，所以如果有侵略的话，肯定整个城市的建筑都被毁，所以这个理论不对；
2，根据Sanfrancisco **（好像是气象局）的weather report, 这个地方大概每一百年都会有干旱，一百年前（即435C.E.）的干旱都survive了，这次只是干旱数年，不至于导致整个文明消失；
3，这个地方的人会用obsidian与其他部落交易，所以森林毁灭他们可以利用trade交换所需的东西，他们不必迁移。

阅读：这种方法不好
1 平均水平来看，妇女从面食来的folic acid的摄入量是 理想摄入量的15%，并不足够
2 这种folic acid会对老人的健康造成危害，因为如果folic acid过多会使B12在身体里隐藏起来。
3 有更好的方法，比如把folic acid加入在Vitamin pills里面 让孕妇可以随身携带
听力：反对文章观点
1 文章中的是妇女平均水平，但是孕期妇女一般都是年轻女子，会吃很多面包 ，因为她们需要很多卡路里。
2 folic acid的确对健康有威胁，但是实在含量很高的情况下，正常如果加在面粉里，不会有那么高的含量（这条听得有点含糊。。感谢楼上）
3 folic acid只有在孕期早期的时候吃才比较有效 一般情况下孕妇在怀孕的初期并不知道自己已经怀孕 等到知道的时候再去吃Vitamin pills 也没什么作用 应该放在面粉里 在自然而然的情况下 被孕妇吃掉

关于用IVR(Interactive Voice Response，交互式语音应答系统，which using recorded machine)调查survey与用传统的电话调查的比较。阅读材料认为用IVR调查比用传统的电话调有three advantages: more honest, more reliable, more objective。
在lecture里，教授针对三个“好处”逐一驳斥：
第1组、阅读材料：人们面对只是机器调查，更加诚实。
Lecture教授反对，not honest, 举例说，如果被问你的收入多少，大多数人还是会给出模糊的信息的，即使用IVR。because even it is a recording machine人们知道调查的只是机器, but people who are surveyed still know that they will be evaluated by real people, and be analyzed by their answers他们知道他们的调查还是要被Real person分析的, so they will be still uncomfortable.'
第2组、阅读：IVR can reach larger group of people。
Lecture教授反对，not reliable, even the survey company can save money to employ fewer interviewers, but people will finish their survey whenever they want, 人家不想回答随时都能end。With real people, they will fell impolite if they do not finish the question, 但是对IVR就have no problem.这样IVR与传统手段相比会得到很多incomplete survey，并不比传统方式reliable。
第3组、阅读：可以避免voice factor。
Lecture教授反对，not accurate and not objective。并没有解决voice factor 的问题。because different people will have different ideas about the same voice and accents. There is no neutral voice(个人认为这句话最重要).

阅读材料：说the vessels 某种容器(有图）有存储电的功能，但是在古代它不可能被用来用做电池
要点一：容器导电必须有电缆的辅助使用，但是在发现容器的周围没有发现有电缆
要点二:在容器的里面有个东西（C, D,单词不认识，）在古代适用于其他方面的，所以不可能是用来存储电
要点三：古代人没有设备来使用电，电对于他们来说根本useless，因为不能将它用于实际，use in real所以这个容器不可能用来存储电
听力：我直接搬阅读主题的否定形式。。
要点一：是现代人发现了这个容器，发现者是铁路工人，所以他们may overlook 忽略了metal wires, 并不一定是没有
要点二：it can use with one purpose, it can use with another purpose as well. 有一个用途的东西同样也可以用于其他方面 其一开始的用途或许是承装某种物品，但也许人们偶然发现加入某种也液体后会有储电的效果，这也可成为电池发明的一种解释。
要点三：虽然没有容器来保存电，但是人们通过使用这个容器可以观察到可看见的电（power）although no device to hole electricity, people can see visible power with the vessels. 这种神奇的现象被利用来显示自己掌握着神奇的力量以使他人信服。另一种用途是古人可能也像现代人一样，通过电击的方法进行一些疾病的治疗。
